The Rosary for Families

“The Rosary is the most beautiful and the most rich in graces of all prayers; it is the prayer that touches most the Heart of the Mother of God…and if you wish peace to reign in your homes, recite the family Rosary.”
Pope Pius X

The Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary (Mondays and Saturdays)
Try praying a decade or more of the Joyful Mysteries with your family!  The Joyful Mysteries teach us to be grateful and humble, and to proclaim the greatness of the Lord. Even young children can learn to meditate on the mysteries of the Rosary. The scriptural passages, artwork, and images from our own Catechesis of the Good Shepherd atrium will help even the littlest ones enter into prayer. You can adapt this prayer to the children’s attention span by doing one decade at a time, and pausing when necessary to continue later.

The Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary (Tuesdays and Fridays)
The Sorrowful Mysteries can be difficult for a young child to pray.  Images of crucifixes from the atrium and from the church help them make the connection between Christ’s sacrifice and his immense love for us.  Consider praying one decade at a time with your child, reflecting on how God shows his love for us through each mystery.
Empty Tomb
The Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary (Wednesdays and Sundays)
Even young children can learn to meditate on the mysteries of the Rosary. This Rosary video is helpful for leading families through the five decades of the Glorious Mysteries. The scriptural passages, artwork, and images from our own Catechesis of the Good Shepherd atrium will help even the littlest ones enter into prayer. You can adapt this prayer to the children’s attention span by doing one decade at a time, and pausing when necessary to continue later. The Rosary combines our most treasured prayer from Jesus, the "Our Father”, with other foundational prayers and reflection on scripture events in the life of Christ. In this devotion we also give Mary honor and ask her intercession. May we be blessed as we spend time in the Rosary with our heavenly Mother Mary and with our loving God!
Cenacle
The Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary (Thursdays)
Spend some time this week following Jesus in the Luminous Mysteries, beginning with Jesus’ baptism and culminating with His gift of Himself to us in the Holy Eucharist, which gives life to our soul at every Mass!  This is an opportunity to pray as a family and prepare for the time when we can all receive Jesus in the Eucharist again.  Pray especially for those who wait patiently to receive First Holy Communion.
