very funny Snapple alright alright this morning I pulled out there's two other these apples in the bag and this morning at school Mass I invited 3 volunteers from from from school to to come up and I gave each one one of them and I deliberately I didn't deliberately chose last night 3 apples that I thought basically looked exactly the same in the same variety and and the whole bit in the first question I asked was you see any difference is there any difference and the the only thing that they could come up with was that the sticker or 8 that the tag identifying it was in a different spot on the on the difference on the different apples alright not very very quickly what I was beginning to beginning to refer to all right all right we know the story of Adam and Eve alright we know the story and our our first reading tonight kind of continues on from the from that the eating into the forbidden fruit and God challenging Adam and Eve on it and and and the whole bit right one of the things I was I also asked the kids this morning was if they wanted each other's app alright that one I made a mistake alright cuz I usually I usually don't ask questions of people that I don't know the answer that they're going to say before I ask her right but I took a risk okay I took a risk having scenes many many situations particularly with the young people but sometimes not so young people alright they see somebody else with something and they want it all right it doesn't matter if they've got the exact same thing or not they want it because someone else has it okay alright and I'm not going to ask for a sign of how to show of hands of how many you how many of you have done that in your life I suspect you have though alright there's something temp okay there's something tempting about what what the other person wants all right either to save face in front of the entire school and me alright or because they're just really virtuous they said no they were satisfied with the one apple that they that they had okay so then we got to talk about we got to talk about the Garden of Eden all right and the truth is in the Garden of Eden in the Garden of Eden Adam and Eve had it all they had it all they had access to app truly luscious perfect fruit they could take it they can take anything in the garden God was absolutely clear about that you can take anything you want except for the except for the fruit for the knowledge of the of the tree of tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil that's it that's it think about it think about it being a wash in anything that you think beautiful lovely and good and God saying you can have it all except one thing except one thing right and I suspect okay I suspected my better days I'd be pretty happy with that I would be pretty happy with that with that negotiation it's an awful lot more than I can ever eat I'll be I'll be just fine will be wonderful alright they also figured out very very quickly and right as Adam and Eve consume the fruits alright as Adam and Eve consume that consume the fruit it really wasn't about the fruits it was now about the fruit it was about their relationship with God all right it was about their it was about their relationship with their god with God and their unwillingness to trust the wisdom and the plan of God for their lives God had given them something beautiful got it given something that we look back on we say that's perfect and they said no they listen to the Temptation that said no God cannot be trusted God does not have your interests God is trying to create a competition between you and himself and doesn't want you to be equal alright Adam and Eve consumes Adam and Eve consume the fruits alright and are brilliant are brilliant biting say load you this morning understood at the San was not fruits sin was Disobedience the sin was Disobedience to the will the plan and the love of God did Adam and Eve had all right they disobeyed all right they disobeyed not that didn't end in the Disobedience alright the disobedience is rooted in a lack of trust in God's plan I wish it were done then but it's not it's not how often how often can we in our own lives and our own spiritual Journeys and Reflections look back at our lives and say you know what I didn't trust the plan of God I worried way too much I worry way too much that somehow I wasn't going to be taken care of I tried to map out my own plan instead of listening to the voice of God right was it happened to Kate crept into The Human Condition through the Disobedience of our first parents but God in his goodness God and His desire to redeem us decides to put someone else in the world who can turn wrap-around All rights and part of his plan was the Blessed Virgin Mary being conceived without original sin the Blessed Virgin Mary being conceived without being subject to the temptation of Disobedience to the play have God but she still had to say yes she still had to say yes when Gabriel came and said be it done according to your word man being done according to according to your word she chooses to participate in the plan of God in choosing to participate in the plan of God create something beautiful and part of that creation is your Redemption and mine in the person of Jesus Christ and if we're not careful if we're not careful we leave the Immaculate Conception we leave Mary's yes as simply a historical reality and a story that we read three or four times during our liturgical year but the truth is it lives the truth of God's goodness the truth of God's plan the truth that God asks his people not just the Blessed Virgin Mary to participate in his plan and trust it and trust it continues every single thing because God has a plan for me God has a plan for you God has a plan for our community God has a plan for our country God has a plan for a church God has a plan for our world and the only thing they can get in way in that plan is for us to say no prayers to say God I got a better idea how about you do it my way and if you just come and consult me alright will be just fine it's patently absurd we know that we know it's absurd and yet an absurdity we probably do it more than a couple of times a day alright we probably do but in the goodness and mercy of God we continue to turn back say Lord I desire to do plan I want to say yes give me the will and the courage and the grace to be able to say yes just like Mary said yes in trusting Obedience of your plan and your will and my own it is the single most difficult thing for any person of Faith to do to put ourselves completely into the hands of God and Trust in his will and Trust in his plan that trust begins it begins with simple obedience infidelity to the things that he teaches us and we get word all the time internally and externally that guy which plan is stupid the God's plan is old that God's plan cannot be trusted we have to get practical about these things because God maybe he had some influence way back then he doesn't now it's nonsense God he God will be given influenced by his people and through his people by their obedient and trusting yes to his will just like the Blessed Virgin Mary and it begins our trust in God begins in our obedience he does not impose obedience Upon Us by power he asks obedience from us by trust and it comes because we believe that he loves us we believe that he has a plan for us and we are willing and and an able and desire to execute that plan as we obey his will every single day of Our Lives
