Youth Formation for children PreK-Grade 4 programs will enrich your child’s spiritual journey and allow them to explore and deepen their faith.
In Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS), children grow in their relationship with Jesus, the Good Shepherd. They discover that he knows all his sheep and calls them each by name. Jesus searches for the lost sheep and rejoices when one is found. Through this journey, children come to understand that the Good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep, and that his life and light are stronger than any darkness—even death.
They learn that Jesus is risen and shares his risen light and life with all people through Baptism. Children also receive the proclamation of the Kingdom of God: that it is like a precious pearl that may be found, and like a mustard seed that grows. In CGS, we help lay the foundation for a life of prayer—learning how to enjoy spending time with God and how to listen to his Word through Scripture. This program is offered at the 9am and 11am Sunday Masses, 2-3 weekends per month for children ages 5-9 years. Through this experience of the liturgy, children hear the Sunday readings accompanied by a short teaching in language that is suitable to their age and inspired by the principles of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Children will exit the main sanctuary with their teachers and aides after the introductory rites to meet in the St. Mary’s Chapel and return during the offertory.
Before mass each week of Children’s Liturgy, stop by our welcome table in the gathering space to pick up your child’s nametag so we can meet you and your child.
