the recent craze craze at the movie theater over the last 10-15 years have been super heroes battle between good I have to admit that I've been sucked into a lot of these series that the Marvel Universe in The Avengers the DC Universe and the Justice League even X-Men who is kind of Stout now and we even have a Disney Pixar you know entering into this because there's a dollar to be made so we had The Incredibles a few years ago and now we have Incredibles 2 coming out this summer a great sequel to look forward to and when I had more free time to watch television series before Seminary about 10 years ago and that time now is long gone but are you watch this series called Heroes the basic plot of Heroes followed all of these movies all of these plots that you had superheroes and supervillains and they're working at each other their mortal enemies and the central character to the show Heroes was a cheerleader the supervillains if they got the cheerleader because of her superpowers because of her place in the plot that everyone else would fall that she was the linchpin in their evil plan and so then the tagline for the show the game save the Cheerleader Save the World the other Heroes were constantly trying to save the cheerleader so that they would save the world Ann Arbor first reading today from The Book of Genesis we hear again about this battle this battle between good and evil it was right there from the beginning with our first parents yet cheerleader is not at Center Stage nor is a superhero the thing that takes Center Stage here in this battle between good and evil is much more fundamental fundamental to the universe fundamental to who we are the linchpin here in this battle between good and evil is the family family fundamental to this battle and so the evil one Satan that serpent in The Story Goes that Central character of the family because the family really is the linchpin in God's plan for salvation and Satan knows if he gets the family then he gets the world and so you have this temptation the serpent Temps and she falls Eve encourages her husband into her sin and he falls and there is division soon because of their Disobedience of God we see evidence of this Division and their finger-pointing when God asks them why they did they disobeyed what is a response God says to Adam why did you do this first he points to eat while the woman and then he points to God himself that you put here with me she gave me the fruit from the tree and so white kit Adam points the finger of blank makes an excuse and then Eve does the same when events asked will why did you do this she passes the buck she makes an excuse and points to the he's the one that tricked me into it and so I ate it and this battle continues all throughout time until the place where we find Our Gospel today the gospel the first three words that we hear our Jesus came home Jesus enters into this battle between good and evil where the family is at the central place Jia firms in a parable that A house divided against itself will not be able to stand what takes Center Stage here again it's the family about Jesus's biological family they were here in the gospel yet it's not explicitly about the biology it's not about the blood Jesus points further but it's about his spiritual family by which he'll save the world so Jesus then becomes the new Adam Jesus by his obedience to the will of God on the Disobedience of the first Adam and he does this in the context of his biological family he's not sliding his family when they want to seem may seem like it he's not putting them aside he's pointing at them certainly but not in the way that Adam and Eve pointed at each other in accusation Jesus is pointing here to his biology biological family to his blood what is for another purpose he does this to show that it's the spiritual family it's those who obey the will of God that and certainly Jesus is illogical family did this who were those characters in his family Joseph John the Baptist the Apostle James Zechariah Elizabeth these are in the church yet they're not Saints because they were related to Jesus by Blood their Saints because they did what Jesus says in the gospel they did the will of God and it's better that they be disciples than to have some blood some biological relationship to Jesus Mary taking a loan becomes the new Eve Adam and Eve now we have Jesus and Mary the new Adam and the new Eve and buy their obedience to the will of God they together on do the dis Obedience of our first parents and so then this new family is established the family of the church a spiritual family not related by blood and the Battle Cry of that new family could be save the family save the world the family has Center place here and we are engaged into this battle as well with our families so we can enter in Jesus's salvation of the family in our own families by spending time with our families by praying with our families by bending the family against Darcy Taylor culture we have a beautiful witness of this today and our mass will celebrate to baptisms and which these families will bring their sons into the spiritual family of God a beautiful Whitney that's why we do it in the mask so that the spiritual family of God can praise God for these new members that we can all be supportive of these families in the battle and when we do this when we stand The Rock foundation of the church when we allow Jesus to save our families and enter into this battle Satan is powerless Satan cannot come again your family's he cannot come against the spiritual family of the church when we stand on that Solid Rock so today and this liturgy in these baptisms in this Eucharistic meal which we gather around as a family Jesus saves his family and in this he saves the world
