Mike Vievering

Greeting/Intro
Greetings!  I am Mike Vievering and I love working here at All Saints Church as Director of Adult Faith Formation.  My key areas of responsibility are RCIA (for preparing adults for initiation sacraments), Bible Studies, Small Groups, Adult Faith Enrichment, sacrament preparation for families with children older than the normal ages for sacraments, and some Latino ministry. I look forward to meeting you and sharing together in our journey with the Lord.

Brief Bio
I grew up in the Highland Park area of St. Paul as the oldest of six children. With our unusual last name, all the Vieverings in the U.S. are my close relatives—direct descendants of my parents, Bill and Sharon.  In 1979, after 4 years at SJV seminary at the College of St. Thomas, I received a BA in Theology and in Youth Ministry, and then in 1991 a Masters in Pastoral Studies with a focus on Religious Education from the University of St. Thomas.  After college I worked at the St. Paul Catholic Youth Center (a precursor of NET Ministries) as a Youth Retreat Director and there met my wonderful wife, Joan (Weber).  In October of 1980 we got married.  Through the ups and downs of the past 37 plus years we have been greatly blessed in our marriage and in our having four golden children: Jason, Marita (married to Joshua), Julie (married to Chris), and Marcus (engaged to Molly).  We also have two awesome grandchildren: Micha and Lucia, children of Marita and Joshua.  Following my time of leading youth retreats, I have steadily worked in full-time ministry: as a middle school religion teacher in Shakopee, then as a parish Director of Religious Education (usually preschool through grade 12) in Belle Plaine, South St. Paul, and West St. Paul, and finally, since 1995, as the Director of Adult Faith Formation here at All Saints Church.

Interesting Facts
Though I grew up Catholic, my high school years brought a dramatic deepening of my faith through a weekly Bible Study with a mixed group of peers—some Catholic, some Lutheran, and some Presbyterian.  My faith moved from my head to my heart and it became clear that Jesus belongs at the center of my life as Savior and Lord.  In addition to my family and Bible Study friends who nurtured my faith, I am grateful to the faith-filled, Catholic leaders that helped me stay anchored in the rich, fullness of the Catholic Church.  With God, then my wife, family, and work at All Saints, my life is abundantly full!  Some additional interests are pre-marriage ministry with my wife, plus reading, guitar, singing, fishing, sports, and movies.
