Check out these valuable prayer resources for Lent!

WORD ON FIRE

living lent daily

Catholic Relief Services’ Operation Rice Bowl
All Saints will participate in the Catholic Relief Services’ Operation Rice Bowl, a faith-in-action program. For Lent, we are again encouraging families to use the online CRS resources available at www.crsricebowl.org. You will find many ideas for prayer, recipes for fasting, and learning for this holy season. For those who prefer the traditional paper Rice Bowls and Lenten calendars, there are some available in the Gathering Space. Donations can also be made directly to CRS via their website.
40 Days for Life Peaceful Vigil
Pro-Life Action Ministries invites everyone to participate in this international movement of prayer and fasting, peaceful vigil, and community outreach to end abortion at one of the Midwest’s largest abortion facilities, Planned Parenthood, 671 Vandalia St. in St. Paul. The vigil will be held through Sunday, April 10. You are encouraged to come out to pray anytime as an individual or group from 6:00am to 6:00pm each day. There will be a closing Prayer Vigil on Palm Sunday, April 10 at 3:00pm. Find more information at www.plam.org or contact [email protected] or 651.797.6363.
Solemn Good Friday Prayer Vigil for Life
Join us on Good Friday, April 15, 8:30am - 4:00pm as we remember the unborn victims of abortion while meditating on the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ. We will gather at Planned Parenthood in St. Paul. Pastors of various denominations lead us in Scripture and prayer every half hour. There is no protesting or signs, just solemn prayer, a wooden cross, and our sorrowful hearts.
Lent 2022
If you want God to hear your prayers, hear the voice of the poor. If you wish God to anticipate your wants, provide those of the needy without waiting for them to ask you. Especially anticipate the needs of those who are ashamed to beg. To make them ask for alms is to make them buy it.

fasting

All who are 18 and older, until their 59th birthday, are to fast on Ash Wednesday & Good Friday.
  • Only one meal is allowed on days of fast.
  • Two other meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to one’s need, but, together, they should not equal another full meal.
  • Only liquids are allowed between meals.
  • The obligation does not apply to those whose health or ability to work would be seriously affected.

abstaining

All Catholics who have reached their 14th birthday are to abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday and all Fridays during Lent. Those with questions about either fasting or abstinence should consult a parish priest.
