PASTORAL CARE
The pastoral care of God’s people is an integral part of the life and ministry of All Saints Catholic Church. Under the leadership of the Pastor, we desire to provide pastoral support and resources which meet the needs of members of the community, and which call forward those with the gifts and talents to be of service.
Pastoral care includes guidance and assistance with life's transitions and crises through support groups and other resources; visits to those who are home bound or in care facilities; as well as prayer and moral support on behalf of the parish community. Additionally, All Saints maintains listings of community resources – including psychological counseling providers – which are available to assist persons seeking information and services.

Pastoral Care: Ministries of Compassion

Don’t we all want to be compassionate people? It sounds like a good thing – and it is. The Christian life calls us to be compassionate.
The word “compassion” is rooted in the Latin words that translate, “to suffer with.” We exercise compassion when we offer care to another in their suffering and struggles, but not from a distance. We can only “suffer with” someone if we are willing to draw ourselves close to them.
Bringing compassionate pastoral care to people’s suffering and struggles is a key part of the mission of the Church. This is most concretely realized in the parish community. The pastoral care of God’s people is an integral part of the life and ministry of All Saints. Under the leadership of the Pastor, the Pastoral Care Commission and its ministries work to provide support and resources which meet the needs of members of the community, and which call forward those with the gifts and talents to be of service.
As with other areas of the parish mission, our mission of pastoral care is guided by both ministerial staff and lay parishioner leadership. The Pastoral Care Commission, made up of six parishioners and a staff liaison, has the responsibility to set the vision for pastoral care at All Saints. This includes listening to and observing the needs that exist in our community and discerning how All Saints can best serve those needs.
Pastoral care ministries bring compassionate care to many and diverse needs. We care for the elderly, particularly those who are homebound or in care facilities due to age or illness. We care for those who are dying and their loved ones. We provide prayer and moral support as well as resources to those who find themselves in all manner of family and personal crisis or challenge.
Likewise, the ministries of pastoral care offer the opportunity for parishioners to live out their baptismal call to be disciples of Christ and servants of their brother and sisters. Hundreds of us serve as members of our Funeral Dinner Ministry, Eucharistic Ministers to those who are homebound, facilitators for support groups, creators of prayer shawl, prayers with our Prayer Network, and in many other often quiet ways.
