Karl Horwath

Brief Bio:
Hi, I’m Karl Horwath and I serve as Director of Elementary Faith Formation. I oversee our Spirit Kids and First Reconciliation and First Communion programs. I partner with parents’ families to help them hand on the faith to their children. I am very happy to be able to work with the kids and their families here at All Saints.

Interesting Facts:
I grew up in Wisconsin, about an hour east of St. Paul. I earned my bachelor's degree in Theology and Catechetics from Franciscan University. After that I went on to earn my master’s in educational administration while working as a retreat director and substitute teacher. I have also served as a Director of Religious Education, and Youth Minister. I love working with the elementary age students and their families, especially when preparing to receive the Sacraments. Seeing them encounter Jesus, receive Him in the Sacraments, and grow in their faith has been rewarding beyond measure.  My wife Kaitlyn and I got married in 2012 and have three spirited children, Kolbe, Zelie, and Felix. Family life has changed the way I approach ministry through personally facing the joys and challenges that accompany it. It has helped me to see the need to support families in their faith and has shown me new ways to do so in my own life.

Outside of work, I am a big sports fan (Go Gophers!) and I like to ref high school basketball. I also usually have a few home improvement projects going, which my kids love to ‘help’ with. We love walking, biking, and cooking.

“Now at last they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story, which no one on earth has read: which goes on forever: in which every chapter is better than the one before.”

Favorite Scripture Verse:
Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
