Some have gotten them professional done, some buy kits and make them, some do it from scratch, it is entirely up to you! You can choose what to put on there, just be sure to include your last name! Holy Cross Books and Gifts in Lakeville has kits in stock that you can use. You can also find more ideas and inspiration online at https://www.reallifeathome.com/how-to-make-first-communion-banner/
When you come to First Communion Mass, you will hang it on the end of your pew and bring it home with you again after.

That is all for Station 1, move on to Station 2!
The Roman Centurion
This station is a meditation on the last prayer we say before receiving Holy Communion and reviews the ways we can receive communion.
  1. Background & Key Terms
Read: This story is about a miracle that Jesus worked.
“Capernaum”: A city on the Sea of Galilee.
    Find it on this map.
“Roman Centurion”: A solder in command of 100 soldiers.
Authority: What does it mean to have authority over someone? How do you think the men under the authority of a Centurion felt about him?
Romans & Jews: The Jewish people, to whom Jesus belonged, did not get along with the Roman soldiers. If a Jewish person entered the house of a Roman they would become unclean and would not be able to enter the Temple until they were purified.
  2. The Healing of the Centurions Servant
    Read
Matthew 8:5-10, 13 from the Holy Bible. You can use your own, or find it here.
  3. Meditate
Reflect: What happened in this story? Who came to Jesus? What did he ask Jesus to do? How did the centurion respond when Jesus said he would come to his house and heal his servant? What does it mean to, “say the word”? The centurion says the word and the solders do it, because he has authority over them. The centurion is saying Jesus has authority, but what does Jesus have authority over?

In Mass we pray these words right before receiving Communion
Whatever blocks there are, whatever is keeping us from Him, please Lord, take it away! Do you think Jesus has the authority to remove anything that keeps us away from Him?

Say the prayer from mass out loud  together.
Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

That's it! Thanks so much for participating!
End by saying this prayer together,

May the heart of Jesus,
in the Most Blessed Sacrament,
be praised, adored, and loved with grateful affection,
at every moment, in all the tabernacles of the world,
even to the end of time.
Amen.
