...a place where All Saints' parishioners can learn and grow together

                                                                                                                     SPRING 2013

Dear All Saints Parishioners,

I am very excited to announce the upcoming growing season of our fourth year of ‘Growing!’ Our mission is to build our All Saints community through gardening by creating a space for people to come together to grow food and flowers, and to share gardening techniques and recipes. The land is being offered within the All Saints Parish grounds adjacent to the cemetery.

Any gardeners (beginners or advanced) who are interested in starting a garden on the grounds can reserve a plot for their gardening needs. Each plot will measure 10 ft. X 10 ft. ($ 25.00), 10 X 15 ($35.00), or 10 X 20 ($45.00) for the growing year. This years’ growing season will be approximately May 15th to October 23rd 2013, weather permitting.
Included in the fee is: plot rental, spring and fall tilling, and water. The number of plots available will be based on the number of responses. Plots will be offered on a first come first serve basis. This is a great gardening opportunity for those who have limited or no garden space available at their residence.

Interested participants please contact me at: simba834@charter.net no later than May 19, 2013. I will be in contact with each person signing up for our All Saints garden to confirm each reservation and appoint a plot within one week after the deadline of signup.

I would also like to ask for any gardening tips or recommendations from our current gardeners in ways that might improve our Community Garden or any organic gardening techniques.

Items that may be grown in the garden should be limited to low growing vegetables and flowers. If sweet corn or sunflowers are desired, they mustn’t block sunlight from the plot on either side. These vines need room to grow and should be contained within your garden plot.

Only organic fertilizers are permitted in the garden (compost and dried manure) and no pesticides. Please bring your own garden tools to maintain your plot, and be willing to maintain and keep weeds on your plot to a minimum.
Remember, gardening requires some maintenance. Please visit your garden at least once a week.
Let us reap our harvest with busy hands and happy hearts…..
See you in the garden!
