(SSSDs) Frequently Asked Questions:
What are "Super Saturday Service Days?
Super Saturday Service Days (SSSDs) are opportunities for those in the parish, with a special focus on youth and families, to provide service to those in need. Generally, each month focuses on one or two groups in our community – the elderly, the sick, the homeless, the hungry…and there is a service task related to their needs. So far we’ve done yard work for parishioners; made blankets and pillows for sick children; visited residents in a nursing home.
Who can participate in SSSDs?
ANYONE! We do reserve spots for teenagers specifically in need of service hours. Depending on the activity and the age of the any youth involved, parental supervision may be needed or a liability form for minors.
When are SSSDs?
Saturdays! The week may vary. It depends on the project of the month. We generally plan the event to be two to three hours.
Where are SSSDs held?
This is also variable. The event may be at All Saints or “on location”. Participants are responsible for getting themselves to the event.
How do youth get a liability form?
Forms are available for download off the SSSDs web page (see All Saints web page- www.allsaintschurch.com). Forms are generic and need to be completely filled out with date, time, and location information.
Who is in charge?
The events are planned and directed by youth and adult members from the youth Service Ministry Team in conjunction with our youth ministers. Other parish staff may also provide leadership at service events.
What do adults need to do if volunteering to drive?
Adult first-time volunteers transporting youth must complete a background check one week before volunteering and provide proof of vehicle insurance. Please contact Chris Kuhn, 952-469-6466. |
