Choirs

YOUTH CHOIRS:

Young Voices Choir (Grades 2-6)

Does your child love to sing?  Join the Young Voices choir to experience the JOY of singing the beautiful music of our Catholic faith at Mass.  Singing in choir gives children the opportunity to use their gifts and talents to bring glory to God, lead the congregation in prayer, and expand their musical skills.

Rehearsals (choose one):

Track I:                       Tuesdays from 2:30-3:30pm in the Church

(2nd and 3rd graders only stay for the first half hour)

Track II (NEW!!!):    Wednesdays from 4:30-5:15 in the Church

(ideal for students registered in Wednesday night FEP classes)

Track I and II rehearse separately, but sing for Sunday Mass together.

Sings for Mass: 9:00am Mass, once per month, as well as the 4pm Mass on Christmas Eve.

Students may register mid-year.  Email Rebecca at rvisser@allsaintschurch.com (952.469.6476)

Teen 11am Band (Grades 7-12)

This band includes guitar, bass, piano and singers, and leads music at the 11am Mass one to two times per month, under the direction of an adult leader.  Rehearsal times vary.  Repertoire includes praise and worship music.  Are you a teen enthusiastic about your faith and the liturgy, but not comfortable singing or playing an instrument?  We are in need of someone to run the sound system during Mass (no experience necessary - we will train you!).

ADULT CHOIRS:

9:00am Choir

Our adult choir sings a variety of liturgical music ranging from chant and polyphony to music by living Catholic composers. 9:00am Choir members also sing as part of the Festival Choir. Teens are welcome.

Rehearsal: Wednesdays 7:00-8:30pm during the school year (during Festival Choir season, 9:00am Choir stays until 8:45pm to rehearse music for the following Sunday)

Music for Liturgy: 3 times per month at the 9:00am Mass, September-May

Festival Choir

Singers from many ensembles come together as a Festival Choir to prepare music for Christmas and Easter. Teens are welcome.

Rehearsals: Wednesdays 7:00-8:15pm, beginning 6 weeks before Christmas/Easter

We have started Christmas rehearsals already.  Festival Choir for Holy Week and Easter will begin on Wednesday, February 21st.

Music for Liturgy: Christmas Midnight Mass; Easter Triduum

11:00am Group

Currently an all-female ensemble, this quick-learning group is a great choice for singers who are not able to attend a weeknight rehearsal, but can practice at home.  Repertoire includes music by contemporary Catholic composers, and is accompanied by a band.

Rehearsal: Sundays at 10:15, when scheduled to sing at the 11:00am Mass

Music for Liturgy: Twice per month at the 11:00am Mass, year round

 SMALLER ENSEMBLES:

5:00pm Group

Rehearses: 4:15-4:45pm, before scheduled Mass, year round

Sings for Mass: Sat 5pm Mass, 2nd Sunday of each month, year round

This small ensemble leads the congregation by strengthening the melody and adding parts of the congregational music of the day.  All voice parts are welcome!

7:30am Group

Rehearses: 7-7:30am before scheduled Mass, year round

Sings for Mass: 7:30am Mass, 2-3 times per month, year round

This small ensemble of independent singers learns 2-3 part choral music and harmonies on the congregational music of the day.  All voice parts are welcome!

Funeral Schola
Rehearses: 10:30-11am on day of funeral
The funeral choir provides an opportunity to care for the sick and mourning, and remember those who have gone before us.  This singing group brings comfort to families during their time of mourning through their gift of music.  Funerals are typically scheduled at 11am on weekdays.  Funeral schola members are not expected to sing for every funeral - simply come as you are able.
