it was pretty obvious I was going to have to readjust the microphone we got my dog food so good because he gives to each one of us different different talents different traits so that together we might form all that gives him glory that we might together be able to give a credible Witness what Jesus has done for us the one who took on human flesh the one who lived and died for us the one who Rose for us for 140 years Parrish has been offering that kind of witness so certainly today we have much to celebrate that God has really blessed this community you as members of the community each put in your gifts at the service of the Lord in his church have been able to invest what God has given to you in such a way it produces a great harvest in Our Gospel today we heard that wonderful Parable where the the master the man going on the journey calls in his servants and gives to each of them some coins some talents that was the coin of the day we had just a snippet in the gospel today of the man who who is able not only to retain the five coins that he was given but he was able to invest the coins to produce 5 more for 140 years you as a community have been investing what God has given to you Rock grapefruit those first families who gathered here to just start this Parish along with those faithful priests who have served here would never have imagined that there would have been this Kingdom on the hill it's a castle but it's a castle that gives glory to God they would have never imagined what would have come from their humble efforts from their committee to serve the Lord and his church I know for 140 years that people in this area have have gathered here to celebrate the Eucharist they've come here to have their children baptized it's here nearest for the first time at the Lord's table it's here so often that they've received it the gift of the Holy Spirit here that they've been United in marriage it's here that they've been big fish well to their parents and grandparents who have gone to God always in that Spirit of Hope but it comes because those faithful families were willing to invest what God had given to them in a way that would bear much fruit but it's not just a story about ancient history it has to be about us today we have to have that same commitment to putting whatever GIFs we have at the service of the Lord and his church always at this time of the year this is the second to the last week in the liturgical year always at this time that the reader of the church focus on the end times what's going to happen at the end of the world st. Paul reminds us in our second reading today that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night we have to be prepared my brothers and sisters to give an accounting for what God has done for us the the blessings that we've received for those first families I suspect that they were able to arrive at the Pearly Gates with great proof of what they had done how they had invested wisely what God had given to them we're going to be called in much that same way we as a community whether it be Shakira in your power Shore in the Archdiocese we have to be committed to Preparing ourselves for that day when the Lord will come again and he will come back shouldn't be for us a source of Peter but rather of great joy that we have a God who keeps his promises who tells us that if we die with him we will rise with him when you look at this beautiful church 20 years old you realize how people sacrifice they invested at to make sure that there would be a fitting place for us to gather to give praise to God that there would be a fitting place where we could come to be nervous and prepared for that day when the Lord would come again I know you always tell father Tiffany he has to be so proud of this shirt shine just the vision that's here but it's such a lovely space helps pull us all together and that we recognize that our preparation for the Lord's coming isn't something that we do completely on our own but rather we do it as a community I congratulate you my brothers and sisters on on these anniversaries for the ways in which you continue to support one another and giving your gifts to the Lord and using your talents whether it be in music weather being greeting I've never seen so many greeters in my life this is a welcoming Parish you all have gifts the way in which you've supported the schooling and that work of passing on the feet to our next Generations we all have gifts that the Lord is asking us to dedicate to the church and your support one another in doing that with great joy I was happy that we have not only your one of your homegrown seminarians serving today Connor and Matthews off in Rome, but also Tyler in one of the signs that a parish is considered to be a thriving parishes that the bishop would commit seminarian to the parish to learn how it is that a priest is able to help build community by the Wilson and father Chad do that so well that we wanted to make sure that our young seminarians would have that opportunity to learn not only from them but from all of you of what it means to be a community that's focused on Jesus Christ when we consider the successes of this Parish in one hundred and forty years it's because you've been able to gether to maintain your focus on Jesus to support one another in in constantly giving everything that you have to the Lord who has given us even more Lord is never out done when it comes to generosity and so my brothers and sisters as we continue this celebration I invite you to ask the Lord for the gift of having your hearts filled with gratitude for what been done in this parish for 140 years for how the Lord has blessed your efforts ask the Lord not only for that gift of gratitude but also for perseverance that you like your forefathers and and those two word of gone before you might be committed to building up the church to strengthening the church to passing on the good news of Jesus Christ when we invite the Lord into our lives when we we trust him with everything that we it's been that the Lord is going to bring great fruit how wonderful it will be that day when we have the opportunity to stand before the Lord and he asks us what we've done with our five talents and we're able to .25 more or 10 more or 15 more sorry future that's God's desire for us if we give ourselves totally to him
