If you didn’t see them you no doubt heard them flapping in the wind last Tuesday morning. Austin Scarcella, Eagle Scout candidate, raised the American and Papal flag that morning on the newly erected flag poles installed by Austin and his Scout crew as part of his requirement to Eagle Scout. It was very windy morning and an opportunity to test Austin’s construction and installation skills.

The flag poles and construction materials were funded through a special collection at the Spring Gala. The poles are 30 feet high and the flags are 5 feet by 8 feet. Each pole is set in 1 cubic foot of concrete. Lights will soon be installed to illumine the flags 24/7. The Papal and American flags are significant symbols of our Catholic identity and religious freedom.
